Manufacturer: Hanna Instruments
Brand: Hanna Instruments
Model: HI96832
The HI 96832 is a digital refractometer for measuring percent volume propylene glycol and the freezing point of a propylene glycol-based solution. The refractometer uses internationally recognized references for unit conversion and temperature compensation for glycol solutions (CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics, 87th Edition), a yellow LCD light source, and a stainless steel ring and flint glass prism sample cell. Measurement time is approximately 1.5 seconds, and the minimum sample volume is 2 metric drops. The refractometer uses one 9V battery, and features an auto-off function after three minutes of non-use and a battery error protection system to prevent erroneous readings. Propylene glycol range is 0 to 100 % volume (+ or – 0.3%), and freezing point range is 0 to - 51 degrees C (32 to -59.8 degrees F) (+ or – 0.5 degrees C, 1.0 degrees F). Dimensions are 19.2(W) x 10.2(D) x 6.7 (H) cm with weight 420g. Refractometers measure refractive index, which is the optical characteristic of a substance, and the number of dissolved particles present. Refractive index is the ratio of the speed of light in empty space to the speed of light in the substance. Brand: MISCO Refractometer
Model: PA201
Color: Blue
The MISCO PA201 digital Brix refractometer is a valuable instrument for determining the sugar content in fruits, vegetables, juices, beverages, and in wine and beer making. It is also used extensively as a base scale for measuring non-sugar fluids such as, metalworking fluids, lubricants and industrial chemicals.
The MISCO Palm Abbe PA201 has a single Brix scale from 0 to 56 Brix. Brix is a measure of sugar concentration, sucrose, to be exact. One degree Brix is the equivalent of 1 gram of sucrose in a 100 gram sucrose solution. Therefore, Brix is actually the percent by weight (% w/w) of sucrose in a solution.
The Brix scale is also widely used for many non-sugar applications, such as metalworking fluids, where people are interested in total dissolved solids. In these applications, the known concentrations of reference fluids are measured on a refractometer, relative to the Brix scale, and the relationship between Brix and concentration is graphed. The concentration of future samples can be easily determined by measuring the Brix value of a fluid on a refractometer and using the chart to convert the Brix reading into the required unit of measure.
The Palm Abbe refractometer is fast, convenient, and easy to use. Simply place a drop or two of fluid in the stainless steel well and press a button. The custom-designed microprocessor delivers a nearly instantaneous readout in degrees Brix.
The Palm Abbe refractometer automatically calibrates itself to water and is ready to use in seconds. No more screws to turn and nothing to adjust.
Scale Fluid: Brix; Unit of Measure: Brix; Range: 0 to 56; Resolution: 0.1; Precision: +/-0.1

A salinity refractometer measures the refractive index of a solution in a sample, converts it to seawater concentration in units of percent by weight (% salinity, also known as degrees salinity), and displays the results. Handheld refractometers, sometimes known as salinity meters or concentration meters, are commonly used in the culinary, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, educational, geological, chemical, and ecological industries, and for water-testing applications. This refractometer is housed in a durable PBT plastic body for use with salinity and acidic samples. The 2473 MASTER-S10M features manual temperature compensation. Calibration is adjusted with an exposed calibration screw and an included specialized screwdriver, although other items can be used to unscrew the unit. However, the unit retains its water-resistance. A spoon-shaped tip allows for automatic sample distribution (ASD) across the prism and boundary line (also called measurement line) for accurate, smooth sampling with small portions. The outer shell grip is ridged for gripping, and easy to clean, which reduces the possibility of food and sample entrapment, avoiding contamination and bacterial growth. AG Fluids are an organic solution calibrated in °Brix and RI and have a long shelf life. Having a low °Brix/RI value, AG fluids provide a low cost alternative to sucrose solutions especially as they can be supplied in multi-packs of 5 or 20 5ml bottles, reducing the per bottle shipping cost. Multipacks are supplied with certificate of calibration, MSDS data and pipettes. They have no special storage or transit requirements and are therefore easy to ship and store. AG Fluids are manufactured on a %weight/weight basis in a UKAS laboratory using only the highest quality chemicals and Analar distilled water. Manufactured in large batches, the resultant samples are checked using a controlled refractometer that has been carefully calibrated with NIST and PTB primary standards, providing further traceability. However, AG Fluids have a refractive index/temperature co-efficient that is not the same as sucrose and so cannot easily be used on refractometers using sucrose temperature compensation. For further advise on the use of AG fluids, contact the Sales Team or use the FAQ system to determine whether AG Fluids can be used on a particular refractometer.
