The time and expense of oak barrel aging at home is now a thing of the past. Traditionally, barrel aging required 200-liter barrels which are expensive to make and even more expensive to fill up. Longhorn Barrels come in a variety of sizes, specifically designed for the home-brewer/distiller and micro-brewer/distiller. By reducing the size of the barrels, you are able age your favorite beverage in smaller batches and with greater frequency due to the reduced aging time required. Each Longhorn Barrel is handcrafted using 100% American White Oak, responsibly harvested in Missouri, Kentucky and California. Made to your specifications, we can customize and create a barrel to meet your needs. Upon receiving your order, an expert artisan cooper will craft your barrel from hand-selected white oak staves secured with galvanized black steel hoops. Once your barrel is constructed, the interiors are charred to your specifications and shipped within days. The charring caramelizes the sugar inside the wood and each level provides it's own unique color and depth of flavor. For custom char levels, please contact us prior to ordering. The aging process can take as little or as long as you would like. Normally, 4-6 weeks will deliver ideal results in a 1-liter barrel. As the barrel size increases, the aging time increases as well.
