The Goodyear Engineered Products Nutriflo clear PVC food hose assembly is suitable for conveying dry bulk or liquid food material and consists of a clear Pliovic (PVC, polyvinyl chloride) tube for lightweight flexibility; and a clear Pliovic (PVC) cover for resistance to abrasion. This assembly meets Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) requirements for food handling, 3-A Sanitary standards, and National Sanitation Foundation (NSF)-61 standards for transmission of potable water. It is reinforced with a clear, high-density Pliovic (PVC) helix for the strength to reach its maximum working pressure rating and its full vacuum rating of 29" Hg. It can withstand temperatures ranging from -15 to +158 degrees F (-26 to +70 degrees C), and comes equipped with an aluminum male National Pipe Straight Hose (NPSH) threaded connection on one end and a brass female NPSH threaded connection on the other. This hose is suitable for a wide range of agricultural and food service dry and liquid food material transfer applications, but is recommended for transmission of raw and pasteurized milk and other high water content dairy items.

The hose must be capable of withstanding the minimum and maximum temperatures that occur within the hose system. Some applications require specialized oils or chemicals to be conveyed through the system. In this case, hose selection must ensure compatibility of the hose tube, cover, couplings and O-rings with the fluid used.
