This is a great digital k-type thermometer for contact temperature measurements. It has two inputs for K-type thermocouple and can display T1 or T2. It also allows to display the differential temperature T1-T2. It will show the correct difference in degree C and in degree F Fahrenheit (many cheap thermometers do not do that). It can be used in HVAC trade to check air conditioners, water heaters or furnaces. It conveniently allows to measure an inlet and an outlet temperature. It is also great for science fair projects and whenever you need a precise measurement of two temperatures. Many home brewers order this in combination with stainless steel probes. Also used in re-flowing and to measure the temperature on computer chips. It comes with two 3 ft (1 m) k-type temperature probes, with bead sensors, they have a FEP plastic insulation and work up to about 400°F (200°C) , but any other K-type thermocouple with miniature thermocouple connector can be used. To use the k-type thermometer for temperatures above 500 degree use a the stainless steel insertion k-type thermocouple probe, for example model TC-3.
