The HI 98150 is a portable pH, temperature and Oxidation Reduction Potential (ORP) meter suitable for lab and field use. Users can enter an ID code to uniquely identify the instrument and messages on the meter’s backlit, LCD screen guide provide automated instructions. Enhanced diagnostics alert user when electrode needs cleaning, monitor the electrodes’ aging, provide a calibration range warning if a reading appears too far from the calibration periphery, and a reminder when a new calibration is necessary. The meter also features auto hold to freeze the first stable reading, Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) functions, PC interface, and can log up to 500 samples. It has a Battery Error Prevention System (BEPS) to prevent false readings, and automatically switches itself off when the batteries are too weak to function properly.

The HI 98150 works a SMART amplified electrode, which incorporates a chip that stores the calibration data performed with a specific instrument, and has a built-in sensor to eliminate the need for an additional temperature probe. The meter automatically recognizes the electrode for efficiency as the electrode avoids erroneous measurements taken in the event pH electrode is substituted after calibration. The instrument calibrates up to five calibration points with seven automatically recognized (1.68, 4.01, 6.86, 7.01, 9.18, 10.01, 12.45 pH) or two custom buffers, and calibration sachets are included. Temperature compensation is manual or automatic. The instrument can measure using Oxidation Reduction Potential (ORP) electrodes due to its capability to measure mV with a resolution up to 0.1 mV, and includes relative mV measurements.

Range is -4.0 to 20.0; -4.00 to 20.00 pH + or – 0.1; 0.01 pH at 20 degrees C, with resolutions 0.1; 0.01 pH. ORP range is plus or - 699.9; 2000 mV + or – 0.2; 1 mV at 20 degrees C, with resolutions 0.1; 1 mV. Temperature range is -20.0 to 120.0 degrees C (-4.0 to 248 degrees F) + or – 0.2 degrees C (0.4 degrees F) at 20 degrees C, with a resolution of 0.1 degrees C (0.1 degrees F). Input impedance is 1E12 Ohm and the device operates on three 1.5V AAA batteries. Dimensions are 185 x 72 x 36 mm (7.3” x 2.8” x 1.4’’), and weighs 300 g (10.6 oz.).
